AIC Web Redesign

Epic-length project involving research, concepting, prototyping, and digital production.

The Art Institute of Chicago’s web redesign was a behemoth project that transpired over multiple phases and many years before launching in October, 2018. Making a website for an organization that has been on the internet for 20 years required a future-forward approach while keeping a respectful eye to the past. While you can browse the site or the screengrabs here, much of the work is only visible on other platforms — making a website on the internet today requires a tactful approach to how content appears outside of your site. This redesign completely re-engineered how our content is expressed through SEO, google, and social. The homepage is no longer the bellwether it once was — a redesign on the modern internet must account for a distributed model, meeting visitors wherever they are.

A longer case study is available here.

This project also involved nearly every single person who works at the Art Institute of Chicago, for whom I grateful for their creativity, support, and collaboration.
